Bathukamma Celebrations – Last Day

We cordially invite you, your family and friends to the cultural and state festival of Telangana “Bathukamma (i.e Mother Goddess Come Alive)” along with Dassara. Bathukamma festival is a true celebration of Telangana culture, it is also synonymous and symbolic of the Telangana region. The celebration starts on Saturday, October 14th and ends on Sunday, October 22nd at the Hindu Temple and Cultural Society of Central Illinois. Please see the below flyer for program details.
Bathukamma is a Telugu word in which “Bathuku” (బతుకు) means “life” or “alive.” It signifies vitality and existence. “Amma” (అమ్మ) is a term used in Telugu and many other Indian languages to refer to “mother” or a revered female figure. Bathukamma means “Mother Goddess” or “Life-Giver Goddess.” It symbolizes the worship of a female deity, often representing nature, fertility, and the source of life itself. The Bathukamma festival 2023 celebrates the goddess’s blessings and the vitality she brings to the land, especially during the harvest season.

Sponsorships, Participation, and Blessed Prasadam
If you would like to help sponsor the festival or participate in the puja yourself, please do consider from the available sponsorships. Sponsorships help to cover the cost of fruits, milk, ghee, flowers and garlands offered during the puja and abhishekam. In gratitude for your kind offering, we will give you blessed and energized prasadam from the event.

For some sponsorships, we will include your name in the sankalpam chanted before the event. The sankalpam is a Sanskrit statement recited before any major puja or homam. When your name is recited in the sankalpam, it creates a subtle energetic bond between you and the puja or homam, bringing divine blessings to you and your family.
All sponsors receive blessed and energized prasadam from the event. Blessed prasadam usually includes small packets of kumkum and/or vibhuti as well as special items like a blessed thread, yajna raksha, or other holy items.
